Within the South East region, there are two neonatal operational delivery networks, Thames Valley and Wessex, and Kent, Surrey and Sussex, consisting of 27 provider units. Both networks are overseen by their respective senior management team.
This map shows both networks within our region and the units within them. It also highlights which units are Neonatal Intensive Care Units (NICUs) (with/without surgery), Local Neonatal Units (LNUs) and Special Care Units (SCUs).
NICUs provide care for the whole range of neonatal care
< 27 weeks of gestation or birthweight < 800 grams, multiples < 28 weeks
LNUs provide care for babies
> 27 weeks gestation and/or > 800 grams, multiples > 28 weeks
Short term intensive care where necessary
SCUs provide local care for special care babies
> 32 weeks
Short term high dependency care
Local pathways of care and agreed service specifications are followed within neonatal operational delivery networks.
