We are excited to announce a series of Infant and Family Centred Developmental Care (IFCDC) video resources designed to support best practices in neonatal care will be launched on Monday 9th February. These videos focus on enhancing developmental experiences for babies and strengthening family involvement, as partners in care, during their time in the unit.
Topics include:
- Supporting skin-to-skin
- Non-pharmacological pain management
- Supporting babies’ positioning
- Supporting babies’ positive feeding experiences
- Individualised sensitive caregiving
- Supporting babies’ sensory development
Following the launch you will be able to access the educational videos on our website and the KSS YouTube channel. We will also update the website regularly with more IFCDC materials and resources. Here are some ideas of how you could promote the videos for staff in your unit.
- Mention and share the poster (or videos) in Grand rounds
- Use videos to promote a theme of the week
- Nursing and medical handovers
- Reach out to the ODN for support with IFCDC/Dev care study days
- Weekly team meetings
- Staff WhatsApp groups
- Send poster and links to all staff email
- Use videos in staff inductions
- Include videos in current training packages, induction, refresher or team days
- Consider including the videos as part of mandatory training
- Contact hospital communications teams for their ideas and support
- Add poster to computer screensaver when staff computers are idle
- Have a laptop with videos running in staff areas during launch day/week
A launch poster with QR codes and links to all 6 videos will be shared on Monday 9th February.
