Find-the-FiCare

Find-the-FiCare© has been developed by our Care Coordinators as a tool to help staff identify the BAPM Family Integrated Care (FiCare) framework in their daily work on neonatal units.

The game consists of a set of 5 pillar cards and a ‘how to play’ card. When these cards are used alongside a neonatal story, the resource can help aid the application of FiCare theory to lived experience.

Players choose a card and then watch or listen to a neonatal story, the cards are then used to find examples of FiCare in practice. The idea is to provoke a discussion about what was seen or heard in the story and for staff to reflect on the ways in which family integrated care can be supported and encouraged.

Here is an explanation video about how the game works

Neonatal stories can be found in a variety of places, online, in books, feedback from parents, podcasts and videos. We have provided a story to get you started. A huge thanks to our neonatal parents, James and Carla, for telling their story.
