Jaundice is common in newborn babies. It can make a baby’s skin and eyes look yellow. Sometimes, jaundice can make babies unwell, so it is important to spot the signs early.
In Black and Brown babies, jaundice can be harder to see because the yellow colour may not show clearly on their skin.
This page links to helpful resources on the South East Clinical Network website. These resources are for parents, families and healthcare professionals. They can help people spot the signs of jaundice early, especially in babies with darker skin tones, and explain what to do if there are concerns. Some resources are also available in other languages.
You know your baby best. If you think your baby may have jaundice, or something does not seem right, please speak to your midwife, health visitor or doctor as soon as possible. They can check your baby and make sure they get the care they need.
