Marian Forster, LNU Practice Educator

I’m Marian Forster, Practice Educator in a busy Local Neonatal Unit. My role is full-time.

My education time is dedicated to preparing and supporting bespoke induction plans for staff new to the neonatal unit, supporting staff with their transition to the neonatal environment, and ensuring their wellbeing. The role also involves assessing competencies, maintaining training records, and training staff on new equipment.  I also support with the allocation of students/mentors and supporting multi-disciplinary simulation sessions for basic life support. The role is varied and includes investigating incidents, completing weekly audits, bleep holder duties, managing staff sickness and appraisals. I also teach parents basic life support and how to manage home oxygen. I deputise for the lead nurse in her absence.
