Kate Jones
Kate is a neonatal and paediatric speech and language therapist (SLT) and lactation consultant (IBCLC). She graduated as a speech and language therapist in 2003 and initially worked within the wider Sussex area before working in community and specialist therapies in Brighton in 2006. She then joined the speech therapy team within Trevor Mann baby unit in Brighton in 2016 working with sick and preterm babies supporting feeding and swallowing difficulties. As an SLT she works with families to support them with their feeding goals and assess infants’ feeding in order to guide positive feeding experiences. Every baby has their own feeding journey and she feels privileged to be able to come alongside and support.
In January 2022 she was also appointed as SLT lead for Kent, Surrey and Sussex Neonatal ODN. This role involves developing the SLT workforce across our neonatal units, promoting infant driven feeding approaches and early communication, providing education around my area for specialism and supporting strategies to enhance families in their role as partners in care.
