Kim Edwards

Interim Network Manager, Nurse Lead and Workforce & Education Strategy Lead

Kim Edwards

What do you do?

My role is to oversee and lead the ODN team to deliver the ODN work programme. I also support the implementation of national directives and act as a facilitator and advisor to embed this in practice. I ensure neonatal nursing is represented at Trust, regional and national levels. I work collaboratively with multi-disciplinary neonatal/maternity colleagues, parents and families impacted by neonatal care and the Third-party sector. The aim is to enhance and ensure the best quality care for babies and their families across the Thames Valley and Wessex ODN.

I work with the units to encourage them to share best practice and shared learning leading to improved outcomes for babies and their families. I contribute to and advise the lead nurses, lead AHPs and clinical psychologist on patient flow/pathways and the requirements of the transformative neonatal workforce.

What would you like to achieve?

I have always been passionate about the nursing workforce, nurse education and workforce improvement initiatives and how these can influence and develop nurses new to the specialty of neonates and beyond. I work with the unit teams to inform on strategy on how to attract, recruit and retain a sustainable and skilled workforce.
